The Bafang BBSxx mid-drive motor is popular among electric bike enthusiasts who love customization, and riders can customize the controller's settings through programming to meet their specific needs.

Before starting, here is what you should prepare -

 

1.   A desktop/notebook that can operate normally

 

2.   A programming cable (which can be bought in Aliexpress or Amazon)

 

3.   A USB Drivers

 

4.   A Bafang configuration tool (for Windows 10)

 

Note: You should unzip these files while they are mostly compressed files.

 

After preparation, follow these steps in order:

1. Remove the battery from the e-bike.

2. Disconnect the display cable.

3. Connect the programming cable to the display cable.

4. Insert the battery into the e-bike and turn it on.

5. Plug the USB cable of the programming cable into your desktop/laptop.

 

Note: You should save default settings before programming (after connecting the correct com port, click "read flash", then click "save as" under "file" in the upper left corner).

 

After opening the Bafang configuration tool, you will see "Basic", "Pedal Assist" and "Throttle Handle" in the top left corner.

 

These are settings for making changes to the controller. If you are unsure how to set the parameters to suit your preferences, you can refer to the parameter files provided by experienced riders.
